Acta Limnologica Brasiliensia is pleased to announce a call for papers for a special thematic section dedicated to the Limnology on the Brazilian Midwest.
This region, marked by a vast hydrographic network and intensive land use (agriculture, livestock, and silviculture), hosts unique and contrasting environmental scenarios. With the Cerrado, Pantanal, and portions of the Amazon and Atlantic Forest biomes, the region is drained by major basins such as the Plata, Tocantins-Araguaia, and Amazon. This landscape creates complex socioeconomic and environmental conflicts, with the multiple uses of water as the main point of contention.
Despite its ecological importance and management challenges, limnological research on the Brazilian Midwest is still underrepresented in the national literature, including in Acta Limnologica Brasiliensia. With the aim of boosting knowledge production and human resource training in the field, this thematic section seeks articles that contribute to a more integrated and efficient management, focusing on environmental conservation and restoration.
